Sports installations should follow a more rigorous commissioning process.
The field may need to be checked for:
- seam integrity,
- perimeter fixing,
- surface flatness,
- drainage,
- shock-pad condition,
- ball/surface interaction,
- player/surface interaction,
- overall installation quality.
For certified football systems, FIFA’s current Quality Programme evaluates multiple aspects of the playing surface rather than simply asking whether the turf has been installed for a certain number of hours.
Therefore:
A sports field should be released for play according to the project specification and installation/commissioning requirements—not simply because 24 hours have passed.
